The Founder

While teaching English in South East Asia during her studies at NYU Tisch School of the Arts, Jessica Hendricks traveled to Cambodia to see the famous temples of Angkor Wat, a remnant of Cambodia's rich ancient culture. She was fascinated by the tangled synthesis of both the beautiful, and heartbreakingly violent past of this small Buddhist country, and struck to the core by the modern day reality she witnessed on the streets: girls as items for sale.

Ignited by a passion to create new opportunity to counter the wrongs she witnessed, Jessica took her wanderlust and wide-eyed entrepreneurial spirit passed down by her parents, and crafted the first Brave Bracelet. Hendricks has been featured by NY Times Columnist Nicholas Kristof's Half the Sky, selected as a Millennial Creator by MTV, and been invited to participate in the Tory Burch Foundation's Mentoring Series for Women Entrepreneurs.

The Artisans

Our jewelry is handmade by talented Cambodian artisans who come from underprivileged backgrounds or suffer from disabilities. Mostly mothers, our team of artists work in a small studio in Cambodia, or from their homes while they care for their young children. All artists work in a free, fair and dignified work environment where they are paid above average wages and receive benefits such as health insurance and stipends for their children's education.

The Jewelry

Each piece in our collection is carved and woven by hand in Cambodia using traditional metalwork techniques with brass, silver and gold vermeil materials. Our cotton threads are hand-dyed in the Cambodian countryside.

The Give

Our goal is to provide job opportunities to talented artisans, exposing them to a global customer and collaborating creatively. Additionally, 10% of our profits are donated to fight human trafficking in Cambodia. We work with partners on the ground to support programming that empowers vulnerable Cambodian girls through mentorship and education in the creative arts.
